Game Day!
Ah, the Super Bowl—the one day when we all pretend to be die-hard football fans. The day we gather around the TV, don our team jerseys (even if we can’t name a single player), and spend a few hours cheering at the screen, or shouting in some cases. But let’s be real: For some of us, the game itself is just the warm-up act. The real stars of the show for early 40 something millennial moms like me are...Usher, (hey now...I can still get down!😉) and the food! That's where my Hometown Hostess mojo really shines.
Elevate Your Super Bowl Gathering with Cranberry Chipotle BBQ Wings
Hometown Hostess knows how to make game day unforgettable, and these Cranberry Chipotle BBQ Wings are no exception! These pecan-smoked wings, cooked to crispy perfection in the air fryer, with their tangy, sweet and lightly spicy flavors are a touchdown for your taste buds. But what really sets them apart? The homemade Cranberry Chipotle Barbecue Sauce that coats each wing. You know that popular grape jelly and BBQ sauce meatball that everyone brings to a Super Bowl party...this is my special twist on that using an ingredient you probably haven't seen since Thanksgiving - yep, jellied cranberry sauce! It's great for wings, pork chops, or just dipping! Let’s dive into the sauce recipe so you can recreate this Hometown Hostess specialty at home.
Cranberry Chipotle Barbecue Sauce Recipe
Ingredients:
1 can cranberry sauce
2 tablespoons chipotle salsa
1 tablespoon minced garlic
2 cups Sweet and Spicy BBQ sauce of choice
2 bags of Pecan smoked frozen chicken wings (uncooked)
Instructions:
Add all of the ingredients to a small saucepan and stir to combine.
Over medium heat, bring the mixture to a low simmer.
Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Okay now the fun part! You're going to lay out those meaty wings out on your sheet pan, give them a little room so that they cook evenly.
Air fry at 400 degrees for 30 minutes or until crispy and at an internal temp of 165 degrees.
Remove from pan and toss with just enough sauce to coat.
Place sauced wings back onto your pan and air fry to caramelize ( about another 5 minutes)
The MVP Has Arrived
Just look at those delectable wings y'all!? They will go fast so be sure to make plenty! I serve with the extra sauce on the side, or you can save it for another recipe!
I hope you enjoyed this recipe for Cranberry Chipotle BBQ wings, a perfect appetizer for the Super Bowl, or any time. These wings are sweet, spicy, and smoky, and they pair well with a refreshing coleslaw or salad. And if you want to impress your guests even more, why not have Hometown Hostess craft a snazzy charcuterie board with some cheese, crackers, fruits, nuts, and cured meats? A charcuterie board is a great way to round out a Super Bowl buffet, while showcasing your creativity and taste. Trust me, your friends will be raving about your Cranberry Chipotle BBQ wings and charcuterie board long after Usher's halftime show is over. Thanks for reading friends, and happy hosting!
